Sumitomo (SHI) Demag’s new SE-EV-S advanced all-electric injection molding machines are available in six model sizes from 34 to 202 U.S. tons (300 to 1800 kN). Providing the highest levels of precision, energy efficiency and molding stability, this new series advances zero-defect molding capabilities with machine setup and performance optimization that takes full advantage of the latest Zero-Molding system and NC-10 Control.

Sumitomo (SHI) Demag’s mid-sized, high-duty all-electric SE-EV-S-HD Series of injection molding machines is available in 8 model sizes ranging from 247 to 562 U.S. tons. The series combines significantly increased specifications with advanced technologies resulting in a substantially different mid-sized machine series that:
- Brings the precision, productivity and profitability benefits of all-electric injection molding machine technology to applications with larger, heavier and more complex molds
- Efficiently handles higher injection requirements that would typically have been run on a hybrid or hydraulic machine
- Allows bigger parts to run on smaller machines
- “Meets or beats” specifications of other competitors’ next model size up all-electrics
What makes the SE-EV-S-HD different from other mid-size machines is the unique combination of robust, best-in-class specifications with exclusive technologies that reduce injection and clamp force requirements. Zero-Molding Technology
Zero-molding is an integration application, consisting of three elements, that achieves as close to zero defects, losses, and faults as possible.

MCM (Minimum Clamping Molding)
Make use of the vent effect to reduce maintenance and extend mold life.
FFC (Flow Front Control)
Low pressure and smooth filling helps the discharge of gas and improves cavity balance.
SPS (Simple Process Settings)
Intuitive interface to simplify use and access to powerful features.
Intuitive Machine Control System: NC-10
The SE-EV-S is equipped with the NC-10 control which has been improved with a wider viewing angle and increased touchscreen sensitivity.
Additionally, the revolutionary SL screw assembly is selectable as a standard option on the SE-EV-S Series. This innovative plasticizing system reduces shear heat, improves molding stability, prevents burn spots and stagnation of the melt in the barrel, and allows exceptionally fast color and/or resin change-out.

Specifications and Design Features
The SE-EV-S delivers high performance across a wide range of applications with specifications and design features that include:
- Sumitomo’s advanced motor technology for high injection power (torque) and velocity, with injection speeds up to 500 mm/s and injection and matching hold pressures up to 41,191 psi (2897 kgf/cm2)
- The new linear guidance system is supplied as a standard feature to ensure that even heavy molds open and close smoothly and parallelism is maintained
- A high-contact-force (nozzle touch) system, with selectable settings of 4.5, 5.6 and 6.7 tons, that is equal to a hydraulic or hybrid machine and ensures compatibility with various mold types (hot runner, cold runner, floating sprue bushings, etc.)
- Bushing-free tie bars that keep the mold area clean and free of grease, making the SE-EV-S ideally suited for medical molding applications
- The Center Press Platen design reduces surface pressure inconsistencies inside the mold
- The Clamp Force Feedback Control system automatically compensates for any thermal expansion of the mold

- A new selectable Energy Saving Control setting for power consumption reduction during the holding pressure portion of the cycle
